I am a massive foodie fan, if I am not cooking in my new kitchen then I will always be looking for the next place I can find delicious but nutritious foods.

I am ALWAYS hungry and whipping up healthy recipes for my fitness and nutrition programmes on Results with Lucy, is one of my favourite hobbies. I split my time between Essex and London, so keeping true to my eating habits, I will be reviewing a range of restaurants, cafes and food markets based in the capital and in my home county.

Sitting in the heart of London Bridge, Borough Market is the ultimate food lovers’ heaven! It is oldest and most renowned food market in London and has been serving up delicious food for over 1,000 years.

The layout is almost what you would expect, huge green market stalls with signs on great offers and food deals on that day. Little passageways mixed with open spaces to enjoy your food buys make for the perfect visit to discover and explore loads of different flavours and foods.

You can pretty much find anything you need at Borough Market from fresh meats, cheeses, fish and fruits as well as smoothies, gluten free produce, fresh breads and spices! The majority of stalls hand out loads of free samples to taste which is the best part, there is so many flavours and smells, you can get so carried away! Plus, there are so many different street food stalls for when you get hungry (if you aren’t full on samples) from homemade curries, paella, oysters, burgers and drinks. I always feel spoilt for choice – I do know the homemade Paella is a massive favourite though, there is a huge pan at the stall and you can see them adding all the flavours and prawns!… Mouth watering!!

The market is perfect both in the height of summer and at Christmas time too. During the summer I love heading there and having a plate of freshly caught Oysters (and sometimes a small Pimms…!) and in the winter they serve up mulled wine and spiced apple cider to have along with fresh Venison burgers and cheese. It really is the perfect place to get lost in delicious tastes!

The full market runs from

Wednesday – Friday from 10am to 5pm
Saturday from 8am to 5pm

A limited market runs on Monday and Tuesday and right next to London Bridge station so it’s easily accessible.

A Canteen is my favourite place to go for Sunday brunch because they serve it all day which is my kinda place! I also absolutely love that they do almond milk coffees (!!!)… I find them so hard to find and as I try and steer clear of dairy due to an intolerance, that will always win points with me.

The other amazing thing about A Canteen is that they have a fab, varied menu. I usually go for the Protein Punch bowl or if I am treating myself, the Mexican Eggs Benedict! They also do a huge range of healthy juices as well as doing naughty bits like pancakes. Plus, they do gluten free and vegan options which I think is really important.

The family run business also stay open for afternoon tea, dinner and late drinks! All the food at A Canteen is sourced either locally or sustainably which makes me want to eat there even more! It is always so nice to know where your food has come from and that is fresh and wholesome.

There is also a ‘take-away’ service available, serving everything from breakfast to light lunches, juices, coffees and cakes and pies too. I think one of my favourite things is that when you do grab a takeaway coffee, you also get a free banana. I love it when I see places trying to push people to eat better and giving away free vitamins!

The décor has an industrial, modern feel and has those really cool lightbulbs that hang down from the ceiling in that ‘un-finished’ but stylish feel. They also sell the bulbs in the little shop they have in there, along with homemade candles which smell insane!! Basically, if you want to go somewhere with good food and those extra touches, this is the place to come.

Plus, the team at A Canteen are offering you guys a 20% off my favourites from the brunch menu! So make sure you head down there for their all day brunch and order one of my favourites off the menu. Just simply quote: “Lucy’s Favourites” when you are next in there! Here are pics of my favourites to get your tastebuds going!

– Mexican Style Benedict
– Pancake Stack
– Paleo Nut, Seed and Berry Museli with Almond Milk
